MVS carried out the rollout of a bespoke digital signage solution across 30+ Tesco stores across the UK; including Bournemouth, Poole, Swansea, Cardiff, Huntingdon, Hitchin, Cambridge, Salisbury, Basildon & Dover.  Tesco wanted to install small screens recessed into the side of the shopping conveyor belts to advertise other areas of Tesco’s business such as credit cards, loans & travel insurance.

The MVS solution uses HDMI extenders and splitters from a central bay running over structured cabling to each screen location.  At the system is running a Scala Digital Signage PC with a 3G connection in order to remotely update the content on the screens.  This connectivity enabled Tesco to update live information to the screens and respond in real time to any marketing requirements.  Also scheduling for Christmas/Easter and other special offers was easy to manage centrally.  All of the above was displayed using 29″ NEC ultra wide, 21:9 format screens at every other conveyor belt bay.

Maintaining the system was aided by an online platform to see whether the 3G router was connected to the internet making it easier for MVS and other teams to determine if a store had connectivity remotely.
